Hi, I'm Lauren, better known as LuckyLauren on Melissa's & Tammy's boards. Just so you know, I'm a 28 year old lesbian who is currently living in AR. I'm engaged to the most amazing woman in the world (Amy), am a college graduate, a Swing & ballroom dancer, a friend to many, an activist, a writer, a photographer, & lots of other things. But this site isn't about me, it's about my hero: Melissa Etheridge. This is my 1st attempt at a website, & I must say that I'm quite proud of it. It may not be as fancy as some others out there, but it sure does what I want it to, with style. This is not the site for you if you're looking for her biography, diskgraphy, lyrics, or tons of pictures (see the other links I have listed for all that.) This is Melissa from a huge fan's point of view: my stories, artwork, thoughts & feelings. I've been a fan since the summer of 2002, that summer changed my life. Thanks to M.E.I.N. (The Melissa Etheridge Information Network, her fan club), & Karma, I have had some unbelievable experiences with her. They include meeting her in person (twice), chatting with her online, & having her answer 1 of my questions in an interview.. I feel that my stories should be shared with as many fans as possible, for they show why Melissa is a Living Legend. For me it's not just her music that makes her a legend, it's who she is. OK, right now your thinking "what the hell is the MLE Zone?" The MLE (Melissa Lou Etheridge) Zone is a way of presenting yourself to the world. Now, this is just something I have come up with, & a common theme among hard-core fans. Living in The Zone means I always keep in mind the Karma I give off, & take responsibility for it. It means I always present myself truthfully, no matter what it might cost me, or how uncomfortable it may make others. It means I try my hardest to spread the truth, joy, love, & passion, that flows through my veins every day. It means I'm always proud of who I am, & remember why I'm here. I first entered The Zone on the night of August 15th, 2004. That was the 1st night I ever saw Melissa live. When she looked in my eyes, she looked into my soul. That changed me for the rest of my life, it made me feel complete in a way I had never felt before. It reminded me of "religious experiences" I have had heard people talk about. The high from the music mixed w/ her words of wisdom, & the amazing unity I feel w/ all her fellow fans. Just...wow...no words to describe it. From that moment on I knew the how important the truth is, & how deep connections with people make this world a miraculous place. I have had so many people say they envy my spirit to fight for what is right, & the love I try my hardest to spread to as many people as possible. Thank you all so very much for those kind words! You help me to stay true, you feed my soul! I learned it all from my hero: Melissa. She is a constant reminder to me, of how short life is, too short to live lies. She is a fixture in my life, literally. Her music has inspired me in countless ways, her theories on life have enriched mine. Her music is like home for my soul. No matter how good or bad a day I've had, her voice is a resting place for me. I believe only a few artiest have been privileged w/ this gift, & she's the only one in the world that gives me that feeling of warmth, love, that I am understood. It just soothes me, always hits my soul in the same place, the perfect place. She's so much more than a musician, I am beyond proud to call myself a fan. Because all of this, & how much of herself she so willingly gives to her fans, shows why she is truly a Living Legend. There will never, ever, be another Melissa!
